Email hello@chickencounter.com and you'll get a reply from a person, usually within a couple of days. Telling us your iPhone model and iOS version saves a round trip.

The count is wrong

It will be, sometimes — birds overlap, hide behind each other, and blend into bedding. A few things that help:

• Take all three photos, from different positions. The app merges what it finds across the set, so a bird hidden in one frame can still be picked up in another.
• Get more light on the coop if you can. Dusk is the hard case.
• Stand back far enough that the whole group is in frame rather than filling it with two birds.

You can always correct the number by hand before saving, and the corrected count is what gets stored in your history.

The app is using a lot of storage

Saved photos are what take up room. Open Settings in the app to see current usage, and to delete stored photos. You can also turn photo retention off entirely, in which case checks are saved with their counts but without the images.

Deleting your data

Individual checks can be deleted from the History screen. To remove everything at once, delete the app — all its data is stored inside the app itself, so nothing is left behind and there is no server-side copy to request deletion of.

Does it need an internet connection?

No. Counting runs on the phone, so the app works with no signal at all.

Which devices does it support?

Chicken Counter is an iPhone app. It is still in development and is not yet available on the App Store — supported iOS versions will be listed here at release.

Reporting a bug

Email hello@chickencounter.com with what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead. The app has no crash reporting, so a message from you is genuinely the only way a problem gets noticed.
